The Wildfish fly selection packs from JM Gillies are real eye catchers and sure fire winners for those new to fly fishing and seasoned veterans alike. There are nine packs (10 Felty’s flies in each) in the range and these are divided into two groups of Freshwater Trout packs and various Eastuary/Saltwater packs. The reality is that there is plenty of overlap. For example the Trout Streamer Pack would very easily be at home in the kit of a bass fisherman. Conversely the Bass Pack would be effective in many tropical freshwater systems right across the north the Billabong Pack contains flies that would light up the eyes of a bass fisherman. It’s a very versatile selection that has been expertly selcted by Peter Morse.
This range of flies can cover many saltwater species. Use the deceivers for larger fish and the Clousers when a sparse fly is needed or you need to fish deep. Many different species in many different situations will eat these flies. The sprats are great for Whiting, Salmon, and Tuna when used as a fast retrieve, while the smaller flies are particularly effective when the fish are fussy and especially on Bream.
